Japanese newspaper Sankei Shimbun says that General Motors’ Opel has recalled 11,646 Astra cars sold in Japan because of possible defects in the speed sensor.

A notice sent to the Japanese Ministry of Transport said the defective speed sensor could impair the function of the car’s anti-lock brake system (ABS).
The recalled Astras were imported to Japan between March 1998 and May 2000 by General Motors Japan, the report said.
