Subaru maker Fuji Heavy Industries is planning to team up with Singapore-based Motor Image Enterprises to start vehicle production in Malaysia by 2013 at the rate of about 5,000 units a year, the Nikkei business daily reported on Friday.

Details of the move are still being decided, but it is seen as part of Fuji Heavy’s mid-term business strategy, which will be announced on 24 March, to lift sales in emerging countries, the newspaper said, according to Reuters.
