According to Reuters, Daihatsu also reported group sales of 710.16 billion yen and an operating profit of 10.97 billion yen for the nine-month period.


The news agency noted that year on year comparisons weren’t available as Daihatsu started reporting its quarterly earnings results from this fiscal year.


Daihatsu reportedly said sales of its redesigned small car models remained strong as it continued cost-cutting efforts and maintained its earnings estimates for the full fiscal year to the end of March.


According to Reuters, the firm continues to expect its group net profit to drop 5.3% on year to 14 billion yen this fiscal year but as previously reported, the decline mainly reflects the absence of a one-time profit from a change in its pension fund management.


Daihatsu also expects group sales of 990 billion yen and an operating profit of 23 billion yen for the full business year, the Reuters report added.
