Toyota on Monday said it took orders for around 6,000 Rush sport-utility vehicles in the first month of sales, about four times more than the monthly sales goal.

According to a Jiji Press report, the company claimed the strong start reflects the high visibility, compact mobility, good driving performance and stylish design of the Rush, launched on 17 January.

The model is the latest to be developed and produced for Toyota by subsidiary Daihatsu Motor on an original equipment manufacturer basis, and is also sold by Daihatsu as the Be-go.

Daihatsu itself has taken orders for about 2,000 Be-go models in the first month and that is also four times more than the monthly sales target.
