Tyre maker Bridgestone Corporation expects to post a special group profit of about $US608 million in 2005 after it returns the proxy portion of its employee pension fund to the Japanese government, Reuters reported.

The company reportedly said the extraordinary gains would total about $565 million for the parent company only, and be reflected in the business year starting January 2005.


In 2002, the latest period for which results are available, Bridgestone posted a net profit of $427 million, Reuters noted.
