In December 2006, Mazda achieved its highest ever overseas production volume of any December to date (+16% to 32,161).


For the period January through December 2006, domestic production volume was at its highest level since 1994 (+11.7% to 966,547) – reflecting the launch of the CX-7 and a rise in production of the 5 and 3 models. Production at the Hofu plant marked an all-time record of 494,650 units, up 1.7% over the 2005 result. Exports were their highest volumes since 1992 (+18.3% to 720,573). This was attributable to an increase in volumes, led by the CX-7 and CX-9. On a market basis, exports bound for North America were especially buoyant, reaching 28,397 units, up 46.3% year-on-year.


For the sixth consecutive year since 2001, January through December export figures exceeded those of the previous year, up 18.3% year-on-year. This result was attributable to the increased export volumes of the CX-7 and 5. On a market basis, exports bound for North America (286,202 units, up 41.7% year-on-year) and Europe (269,029 units, up 17.0% year-on-year) were particularly healthy.


Overseas production (+13.4% to 318,773) reached an all-time record for a calendar year.
