Six major Japanese automakers posted year on year global production gains in November after heavy falls in the same month last year, while two others reduced their declines, their reports said Tuesday.

Toyota boosted global output in the month by 22% from a year earlier to 719,362 units, the first rise in 16 months.


Global output also increased 32.6% at Nissan Motor, 19.6% at Subaru maker Fuji Heavy Industries, 11.3% at Suzuki, 3.4% at Daihatsu and 0.5% at Mitsubishi Motors.


But global production fell 7.6% to 301,257 units at Honda although the decline was slower than the 18.2% in October. Mazda also logged a global output decline of 2.1% against a 12.1% drop in the previous month.


Domestic production performances were mixed, with output scoring the first year-on-year rise in 16 months at Toyota and in 14 months at Nissan, but declining 25.4% at Honda, 10.9% at Suzuki, 10% at Mitsubishi and 5.3% at Mazda.


The eight automakers all boosted overseas production in November, Kyodo News noted.


Domestic sales expanded at six of the eight firms. Toyota scored the largest increase at 40.3% followed by Honda with a 33.4% gain.


In exports, Fuji Heavy marked a 12.2% rise, the first increase in 11 months, while the others reported export drops ranging from 1.6% at Mazda to 71.6% at Honda.
