An Aisin Seiki subsidiary is planning a new facility in the Chinese coastal city of Tianjin to boost automatic transmission production in China.
A Kyodo news agency report said that Aisin AW Co. will begin construction on the new facility this year with production to commence in late 2014. The new facility is being planned with manufacturing capacity of 400,000 automatic transmissions a year.
