The report says that the investment will help Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland prepare to start production of new kinds of transmissions in 2005.

Toyota has been making transmissions for use in its Yaris model at a factory in France since April of this year.

In 2005, it plans to start making manual transmissions for 1-litre models. Aisin AI already makes such transmissions and is well placed to help.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland plans to increase its manufacturing capacity for manual transmissions to 550,000 units annually by 2004, and it also plans to produce about 250,000 petrol engines annually.

Aisin Seiki is 41% owned by Toyota.
