Tata Motors’ Range Rover brand has launched new, UK made, three litre, straight six (I6), Ingenium diesel engine options with a 48 volt mild hybrid system, supplementing plug in hybrid powertrains introduced earlier.
The new powertrain is available across the Range Rover line, including new Westminster and SVAutobiography Dynamic Black special editions which join the earlier launched Fifty which marks a half century of the nameplate launched in 1970.

This latest diesel powertrain is also available for the Range Rover Sport line as new special editions – HSE Dynamic Black and HSE Dynamic Stealth – join the range alongside the HSE Silver and SVR Carbon Edition special editions announced earlier.
The new MHEV Ingenium I6 diesel is offered with 300PS (221kW) or 350PS (258kW) outputs.
Enhancements across the Range Rover range include updated connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now standard. Up to eight 4G Wi-Fi connections can be made.

By GlobalDataThe PM2.5 system is controlled using a soft ‘Purify’ button incorporated into the infotainment system which initiates the recirculation function, cleaning the air and removing small particulates less than 2.5 micrometres in size that are said to be harmful to health.
The new Ingenium I6 MHEV diesel engines are based on JLR’s modular aluminium engine architecture and made in the automaker’s engine factory in Wolverhampton in England’s West Midlands.
JLR said the latest diesels are smoother and more refined than the previous generation while the 48V mild hybrid technology meets the most stringent global emissions regulations.
These include the Real Driving Emissions Step 2 (RDE2) standards, which govern nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, making the latest Range Rover among the first full-sized luxury and performance SUVs worldwide to be available with RDE2-certified diesels.
The highly efficient engines deliver improved response by harvesting and storing energy generated during deceleration and intelligently redeploying it to assist the engine when accelerating, JLR said.
The D300 Ingenium MHEV diesel is capable of up to 33mpg (8.6l/100km) on the WLTP test cycle, emitting as little as 225g/km CO2.
The more powerful D350 achieves up to 30.8mpg (9.2l/100km) with CO2 emissions of 241g/km WLTP cycle.
JLR claims its new flagship diesel provides superior performance to the previous V8 with the efficiency and weight of a six cylinder design.
Product engineering chief Nick Rogers said: “Our family of clean, refined and efficient Ingenium engines has evolved and expanded to give our customers an even greater choice of in line four and six cylinder petrols and diesels.”
