General Motors will spend EUR20m (US$28.3m) on its specialist diesel engineering centre in Turin over the next four years. The automaker spent EUR30m establishing the centre in 2005.
The centre also develops diesel engine control systems and new technology for hybrid and conventional engines.

The new investment will result in additional testing stations, enabling a virtual simulation of the entire vehicle, significantly reducing development time, but also regulating the engine in future programmes. The climatic test allows a simulation of temperatures from -40 C ° up to 70 C ° and altitudes up to 3000m.
By the end of 2011, the 15 test stations will be fully used over two shifts with optional operation of an automated shift.
