In a statement emailed to just-auto, FIOM notes: “The strike has as its objective the recovery of the national contract, the defence of bargaining, the right of workers to vote on the agreements and their representatives, the block of lay-offs and an industrial policy that offers solutions to the economic crisis.”
“In many cases, regional initiatives will be held not in respective capitals, but in areas characterised by the presence of industrial establishments or offices of the Fiat group.”
FIOM’s decision to strike comes after its protracted disagreement with Fiat concerning a new productivity deal at the automaker’s Mirafiori plant.
