Lamborghini, part of Volkwagen Group’s Audi unit, has built the last of 14,022 Gallardo super sports cars at its Sant’Agata Bolognese factory in Italy.

The final car was a LP 570-4 Spyder Performante in ‘Rosso Mars (aka red) destined for a private collector.

The Gallardo, launched a decade ago, is the highest volume Lamborghini to date. For comparison, in the brand’s first 40 years, it built an average of just 250 cars a year – the Gallardo hiked the annual tally to around 2,000.

Lamborghini has built around 30,000 units since it was established in 1963.

In the unlikely event this writer ever gets the chance, mine’s a ‘classic’ 1970s Espada, please.
