The Ford Focus, Ireland’s top-selling car in its segment, has once again proved its credentials in the face of stiff competition. The prestigious UK magazine What Car? has awarded the Focus maximum five-star ratings in the new, nearly-new and used buy categories of its ‘Buyer’s File’. None of the 18 competitor models managed to collect top marks in any of these categories.

The magazine refers to the Focus as having “easily obliterated every other car in its class since its appearance”, praising in particular the independent rear suspension, interior ergonomics and excellent rear legroom. It advises buyers to opt for the “sweet and willing” 1.6 petrol engine. The reliability of the Focus is central to its top rating as a used buy.
