Scania has signed an agreement with its local partner Qanadeel and Iraq’s Ministry of Industry and Minerals, to deliver 4,000 vehicles to Iraq for a five-year period.
The vehicles worth SEK3bn (US$4.7bn) will be assembled at the government’s Iskandariyah industrial complex in the south of Baghdad.

Scania’a Iraqi partner Qanadeel al Rafidain and Iraq’s Ministry of Industry and Minerals signed the agreement. Signed at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals in Baghdad, the agreement will generate jobs in the country’s industry, the company said.
“The agreement means that Qanadeel can intensify the expansion of its service network and continue to invest in training its own employees,” Scania’s country manager for Iraq, Gustaf Sundell said.
In addition to the vehicles, Scania will deliver industrial knowledge, tools and training during the agreement.
