Iran-Khodro says a production line for the Iranian made sedan, Peugeot Pars (a modified 405), is expected to be operational in Egypt by late summer.
Managing Director of Iran-Khodro Company Manouchehr Manteqi said that given the growing demand in the Egyptian and North African auto markets, the annual output of the plant is expected to increase up to 5,000 cars.
Iran Khodro is planning to set up a complete knocked down (CKD) assembly line in Egypt.
The official said that the trial production of the first Peugeot Pars in Egypt has been successful.
He added that the ultimate production capacity of the plant in the mass production phase is predicted to be three units per hour.
