The firm said the ceremony held on Saturday, April 18 and will be avialble to view at Iran Khodro’s website www.ikco.com in Arabic and English at 10:00am local time.

The ceremony will also see the introduction of IKCO’s new CEO, Mohammad Javad Najmeddin followed by a valedictory ceremony for outgoing EO Manouchehr Manteghi.

IKCO’s second national car follows on from its first, the Samand X7, which is based on a Peugeot 405 platform. IKCO has said that the second model reflects the fact that IKCO has acquired technical know-how in accordance with international standards. It describes the model as a ‘C-Class’ car ‘able to receive a great variety of engines and equipment’.

Details are few, but there are some suggestions that the X12 is similar in design and size to the Peugeot 206, a model that has been assembled by IKCO in Iran, but whose price was high due to Iranian tariffs on imported kits.

Other models planned for introduction by IKCO for the future include a car aimed specifically at Islamic customers across the world and further models to stem from its continuing cooperation with PSA.
