Iranian automaker IKCO is developing its spare parts and after sales service arm to supply 35 countries.

Known as ISACO, the body, already established in Iran, will especially target neighbouring Iraq, where some 49,000 IKCO cars have been sold.

“Our main target market in 2010 was Iraq,” a person familiar with IKCO told just-auto. “The main volume of products was to Iraq – the main supply of parts concentrated on this country.”

IKCO has set up an Iraqi service network for the cities of Najaf, Karbala, Baghdad, Dahuk, with the company noting it has provided 4,000 training hours to Iraqi mechanics.

“We have scheduled to double services in our target market this year, the majority of which have been fulfilled so far,” said ISACO CEO Mohammad Reza Babaei.”

“Our intention is to provide proper service in domestic and international markets.”

The Iranian manufacturer added it is aiming to export 9% of its total volume this year or 75,000 vehicles, with the target of shipping 16% of product by 2014 in CKD and CBU forms. 

“The main regions to export our products to and also to supply our parts, are [the] CIS countries and the Middle East and North Africa,” the Iranian source added to just-auto.

“The main product is the Samand and we are going to export another product, which is the Runna – by the end of 2011.”

The source also revealed IKCO was working on a new project, known for the moment as NX7. Details are still sketchy, but it will be based on a Samand platform.
