Iranian bus maker Akia Ultra is considering assembling  electric buses sourced from China’s BYD Auto.

Akia executives will travel to BYD’s headquarters in Shenzen, China, next month to explore collaboration between the two companies.

Akia chairman Mazaher Naseri met with executives of BYD Auto Europe in Turkey earlier this month during the European launch of BYD’s latest range of electric buses involving test drives in 42 European cities.

Akia has a production capacity of 1,500 buses per year in the city of Tibriz.
