Infineon Asia Pacific has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) to foster the development of advanced automotive semiconductor solutions for the Indian automotive sector.

This partnership aims to create EV inverters and vehicle control units that are specifically designed for Indian EV market.

Both organisations aim to enhance market visibility and promote these drivetrain solutions to drive adoption among automotive manufacturers across the country.

The scope of the collaboration extends beyond drivetrain components to include the co-development of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving (AD) technologies.

This includes solutions such as blind spot detection (BSD), automated emergency braking (AEB), and lane keep assist (LKA).

Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific president and managing director Chua Chee Seong said: “We are delighted to partner with ARAI to bring cutting-edge semiconductor solutions to the Indian automotive industry.

“This collaboration will enable us to combine our technological expertise with ARAI’s extensive knowledge of the local market, ultimately driving innovation and enhancing the efficiency of automotive semiconductor solutions in India.”

Furthermore, Infineon and ARAI will work to ensure that their products and solutions address and mitigate various cybersecurity challenges in connected cars.

ARAI Business Development & Corporate Planning Deputy Director Makarand Pathak said: “This alliance will enable the development of sophisticated automotive technologies specifically designed for Indian conditions and requirements.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to create a robust ecosystem for automotive technology development in India, focusing on technologies that enhance vehicle safety, reduce pollution, and improve efficiency.”

India’s automotive research and development organisation ARAI is an an autonomous body under the Indian Ministry of Heavy Industries.

In December 2024, Infineon partnered with EVE Energy to enhance the development of next-generation battery management systems for the automotive sector.

The MoU aims to deliver comprehensive solutions aimed at improving the safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency of EV batteries.
