TMMIN initially targets monthly exports of 1,000 vehicles, and plans to raise that figure to 3,000 by the end of the year.
“This will boost Toyota-brand exports from Indonesia by about 30% in 2015 compared with 2013,” TMMIN President Masahiro Nonami said Wednesday. The carmaker exported 118,000 vehicles in 2013.
“It will also strengthen our position as Indonesia’s biggest automobile exporter,” he said. The company says it accounts for more than 70% of the Southeast Asian country’s automotive exports.
The export push is part of Toyota’s efforts to make Indonesia a key production base.
