Last year’s result was already well ahead of expectations thanks to strong exports of CKD assembly kits of two multi-purpose vehicles – the Avanza and Innova – to other south east Asian countries as well as the Middle East and South America.
The two vehicles are part of Toyota’s IMV project, a multi-purpose commercial and passenger vehicle model line designed for developing markets.
Toyota exported 181,250 vehicles in 2005, and 100,000 engines. Its exports accounted for 85% of Indonesia’s total automobile exports in 2005, reported Reuters.
