The French group is reported to have approached the country’s government to provide a list of incentives for the investment.
Renault is looking to build a plant with a capacity of 50,000–200,000 vehicles a year, Bisnis Indonesia, a local newspaper, reported today. It cited Muhammad Lutfi, the head of Indonesia’s investment board.
“He (Ghosn) plans to sign the commitment for investment by September during President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s visit to the country (France),” Lutfi was reported saying.
Renault spokesmen in France did not immediately return messages left seeking comment.
Earlier this week it was reported on just-auto that the French company plans to invest around EUR100m over the next two years in Renault Technologies Romania (RTR), a regional engineering centre developing vehicles and powertrains to be made at regional plants or sold in central and eastern Europe, Turkey, Russia and North Africa.
