New vehicle sales in Indonesia fell by 2.3% to 67,656 units in November, from 69,249 units a year earlier, according to data released by industry association Gaikindo.

Compared with the previous month’s 86,346 units, November sales were down by 21.6%, reflecting mostly supply shortages of key models from Thailand.

Cumulative sales in the first eleven months of 2011 increased by 17.1% to 813,855 units, from 694,649 in the same period of last year.

Full-year sales are likely to exceed 860,000 units, to overtake Thailand as the ASEAN region’s largest domestic automotive market for the first time.
