Astra, which imports or assembles Toyota, Daihatsu, Isuzu, Peugeot, Nissan Diesel and BMW, is set to strengthen its lead in the car market with a share of 53% by the end of 2008 versus 50.6% in the first half of the year, company director Prijono Sugiarto told Asia Pulse.
Some models have up to three months’ wait list, Prijono added. First half market share fell from 53% in H1 2007 despite a 41% increase in sales to 147,969 units.
