Truck unit head P M Telang said: “We are looking at assembling medium-sized and small trucks there for now,” adding that details were currently being considered. Initial capacity could be about 3,000-4,000 units annually – the company exports about 2,000-3,000 trucks a year to South Africa.
Tata, India’s largest commercial vehicle maker, also assembles in Thailand and Bangladesh and in fiscal year 2009/10 exported 30,000 units and sold 373,615 trucks, up 41% year on year.
