Tata Motors has seen a 20% fall in vehicle sales in October this year compared to the same month last year, according to local reports.


The Economic Times of India said that the Indian manufacturer had registered sales of 39,729 units as against 49,354 in the same month last year.


The company had been hit particularly hard in its commercial vehicle sales on the domestic market – down 29% to 19,154 units.


Sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales were down 48% to 7,321. Light commercial sales fell 10% to 11,833 units.


Domestic passenger vehicle sales fared better, falling only 6% to 17,014 units.

The company was reported to have seen a fall in exports too, down 16% to 3,561 vehicles.
