Assembly of TDCV vehicles in Pakistan is expected to commence by the last quarter of 2006 at a newly established plant in Karachi. The assembly plant has a designed capacity of 3,000 commercial vehicles a year on a single shift basis. It will be the first Korean truck assembly project in Pakistan.

Tata Daewoo has not taken any equity stake in Afzal Motors and the agreement is limited to the Pakistan company importing CKD kits for final assembly in India.

TDCV, a 100% subsidiary of Tata Motors, is the second largest manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks in Korea, with vehicles being sold in around 50 countries across the world.

Pakistan has been of great interest for Indian companies in recent times with two wheeler manufacturers like Bajaj Auto and Kinetic Motors planning to set up operations in the country.
