Tata AutoComp Systems and Magna International have signed a 50/50 joint venture agreement to provide seating systems to India’s commercial vehicle industry.

The JV will focus on “innovative seating systems” for commercial vehicle manufacturers and for buses.

Ajay Tandon, MD & CEO of Tata AutoComp Systems said: “This partnership with Magna will expand our portfolio to now bring the latest in seating systems to the Indian commercial vehicle industry.”

Mike Bisson, president of Magna Seating said: “The combination of Magna’s seating expertise and Tata AutoComp’s knowledge of the Indian market provides both companies an opportunity for growth in the commercial vehicle market.”

The JV will be based in Pune, Maharashtra state.

Tata AutoComp supplies interior and exterior plastics, composites, and stampings and has four joint ventures making engine cooling systems, batteries, rear view mirrors, command systems, HVAC and heavy commercial vehicle suspension. The supplier has 28 factories in India and one in China.
