Hyundai Motor India said on Monday its vehicle sales in March rose 26.5% year on year to 30,038 units, its highest monthly sales so far, Reuters reported.

Sales in the domestic market rose 37.5% to 22,524 units, while exports rose 2% to 7,514 vehicles.
Hyundai builds Santro and Getz hatchbacks, and the Accent, Elantra and Sonata sedans at a plant on the outskirts of Chennai in southern India and imports the Terracan and Tucson sport utility vehicles fully-built from South Korea, Reuters noted.
Separately, the news agency reported that Ford India sales rose 83% from a year ago to 5,929 units last month, its highest monthly sales.
Ford reportedly said it sold 14,125 units in the domestic market in the January-March period, compared with 7,607 units in the same period a year earlier.
The company said the Ikon and the newly launched mid-size Fiesta drove growth in the quarter.
Ford India, which set up operations in 1995, sold 22,347 units in India in 2005. It also assembles the Fusion mid-size and Endeavour sports utility and imports the Mondeo saloon fully built, Reuters noted.
