Samvardhana Motherson Group (SMG) will open an automobile mirror plant in Marysville, Ohio, on 19 January. The US$40m plant is part of the company’s greenfield expansion plan in the US and China.
ETAuto.com said the plant would operate under Samvardhana Motherson Reflect (SMR).
SMG chairman VC Sehgal said: “We are confident of doing good business in the US as we are opening up a plant at the behest of our German customers.”
The group is also setting up an exterior mirrors plant in Chongqing, China. Operations there are expected to commence in the next few months. SMG is planning to set up another plant, to produce door panels, in Beijing. Operations at this plant, which will operate under the Samvardhana Motherson Peguform (SMP) banner, are expected to begin in fiscal year 2016-17.
Meanwhile, SMG plans to disclose Vision 2020, its plan for the next five years, in June, according to a company source.
