Renault expects to sell 75,000 cars a year in India by 2013 and will launch five cars between now and then, according to general manager Marc Nassif.

Renault brand small cars will be built from 2012 on alliance partner Nissan’s platform at the new joint production plant in Chennai.
Next year Renault will introduce the Fluence and the Koleos crossover while, separately, Renault-Nissan is working with India’s Bajaj Auto to make a low cost car, which would be designed by Bajaj and launched by the end of 2012.
Nissan started assembly of its small Micra at Chennai in May. The compact car segment in India, with cars measuring between 3.4 to 4m in length, is a rapidly expanding segment accounting for more than 70% of the total car market.
Maruti Suzuki still holds more than 50% of the market but competition is increasing from Toyota, Honda, General Motors, Volkswagen and Ford.
