Kenichiro Yomura, Nissan India operations president, said: “The Datsun brand is currently sold from Nissan showrooms but within this fiscal [year] you may see separate showrooms.”
He said customer profiles for the two brands are different and hence the company plans separate outlets. Nissan will launch separate showrooms for Datsun in six to seven months.
Yomura said that automaker will add 70 showrooms in 2014 to take the total in India to 200. Currently, it has 130 showrooms selling Datsun and Nissan products. Yomura added: “The aim is to have a total of 300 showrooms by the end of March 2017.”
Yomura also said the automaker would introduce a face-lifted Sunny mid-sized sedan in mid-2014, followed by the Datsun Go Plus. He added the company intends to grow more than the industry but did not comment on any sales target.
