The Indian newspaper said the first product offering from Nissan’s India base is likely to be fitted with a 1.3-litre, three-cylinder, petrol engine, with the bulk of production earmarked for export.
Earlier this year the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported Nissan intended to develop a global strategic vehicle targeted at China, India and other emerging markets. Some 600,000 units a year of production capacity in these markets was said to be sought by Nissan by 2009.
