Michelin has started producing truck tyres in India at its INR40bn (US$646m) plant in Chennai.

Going forward, it plans to manufacture tyres for two-wheelers and passenger cars, NDTV AUTO reported.

The company is also setting up a technical centre in Gurgaon.

Michelin president, passenger car and light truck product line, Florent Menegaux, said: “India is growing at a rapid pace and we need to be [there].

“Michelin tyres are available in India but are imported and we are looking at producing them locally.”
