As a first step, it has received a no objection certificate from India’s top truck maker, Tata Motors, in which Daimler owns 6.8%, a local report said.


This procedure is necessary if a foreign company with an equity stake greater than 3% in a local firm company would like to start its own operations, DaimlerChrysler India CEO Wilfried Aulbur said in a statement.


“DaimlerChrysler plans not only to import complete vehicles but to assemble semi-knocked down Mercedes-Benz trucks in India in the near future,” he was reported to have said.
