The first Indian-built M-Class SUVs have rolled off the production line at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Chakan, Pune.
The roll-out coincided with the opening of a new paint shop at the factory.
The current M-class so far has only been built at Daimler’s Tuscaloosa, Alabama, plant in the US.
The company said the decision to build the M-Class in Pune highlighted its commitment to the Indian market.
Last year, Mercedes sold 600 M-Classes in India, a figure it matched in the first nine months of this year.
