The first model to appear with the new engines will be the SX4 sedan, due to be launched in the first week of May.


 


According to the domain-b website, the so-called M-series engines will be supplied by Suzuki Japan. At present the engines are dressed at Suzuki Powertrain India‘s facility at Manesar near Gurgaon for the SX4 sedan. The company is in the process of increasing the localisation levels.


 


The SX4 will be equipped with a 1.6 litre M-series petrol engine, and will compete with the Honda City, Ford Fiesta and Hyundai Verna.


 


Suzuki recently opened a new powertrain facility at Manesar to produce diesel engines under licence from Fiat.
