Spread over 600 acres, the Manesar facility houses three plants, Manesar A, B and C, with total annual capacity of 800,000 units. The site also houses a diesel engine plant and a supplier park.
Manesar facility achieved the 2.5m milestone in seven years and eight months and makes some of Maruti’s top selling models like the Swift, DZire and Celerio.
The company’s twin facilities at Gurgaon and Manesar have together rolled out over 14m (1.4 crore) vehicles.
However, industrial relations at Manesar have been poor. A bout of extreme violence in summer 2012 left one manager dead and a hundred hospitalised.
