Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday launched an automatic transmission variant of its A-star small car (exported as the Alto and Nissan Pixo) priced at INR435,000 (US$9,300) in New Delhi.

The new version shares its 998 cubic centimetre K-series petrol engine with manual transmission A-star models.

“We see a growing market for automatic transmission cars in India as traffic congestion is increasing,” said Maruti marketing head Shashank Srivastava.
