A new automated manual option for one of its models has proved a hit for Maruti Suzuki.

To reduce the waiting list for the Celerio, which uses a Magneti Marelli automation system, Maruti plans to increase the supply of the model, reported PTI.

The current waiting time for the model is around four months. To meet demand, the company has expanded monthly production from around 4,500 units when launched to 6,500 units now.

Since the launch of the Celerio in February, the company has received orders for over 57,800 units, with 43% or 25,000, being for units with AMT technology.

The company has so far retailed about 7,000 units of those and 22,000 of the manual version.
