Maruti Suzuki is expected to recall around 150,000 Swift Dzire compact sedans to replace a defective fuel filler neck.

Citing unnamed sources, The Financial Express said JBM, in which the automaker owns a 29.28% stake, had supplied the defective component. The size of the recall, which comprises vehicles manufactured in 2013 and 2014, is nearly equivalent to the car’s annual production.

An industry source said: “Out of the [150,000] units affected under the recall, some are still in the dealerships. The supplier has already been informed of the defect and has started making the replacement parts.”

In November 2013, Maruti recalled around 1,492 units of the Dzire, Swift, Ertiga and A-Star to fix a potential problem with the steering column.

The company’s fiscal year 2014 domestic volumes were up just 0.3% to 1.05m units.
