Mahindra & Mahindra has resumed full production at its Nashik after a fire broke out at the plant’s Scorpio multipurpose vehicle unit earlier this week. The company has since produced 200 units of the Scorpio and Xylo models.
The fire, which was contained in the storage area of the plant, destroyed some parts. Suppliers shipped replacement components immediately to help restart production, The Times of India reported.

A company official said: “We had asked our vendors to deliver their consignments and they immediately supplied it, helping us to restore production of Scorpio and Xylo by over 60%.”
Mahindra usually produces a daily total of 324 Scorpio and Xylo models over two shifts.
Company sources said M&M had estimated damage and loss of about INR760m (US$14m) but had yet to identify the cause of the fire.
The Nashik plant also builds Verito and Bolero vehicles. Production of Bolero resumed on 9 May from the second shift but Scorpio and Xylo output was suspended for the rest of the day. The Verito is produced only by the first shift.
