M&M recently launched its SUV Scorpio and pick-up truck range (single and double cabs) in Turkey in association with ILCE Otomotiv Servis ve Ticaret, following the duo’s entry into South Africa, and Central and South America.
“We have just started our business in Turkey, as volume grows to a decent number we will certainly look at the possibility of manufacturing in Turkey for the local market as well as for exporting to Europe,” said M&M’s president – automotive business, Pawan Goenka.
The company hopes sales in Turkey will prove successful, paving the way to the rest of Europe.
“We will be happy if the Scorpio SUV and pick-up sell about 1,000 vehicles this year. This market has the potential of 4,000-5,000 vehicles within four years and we will launch the Ingenio and the new SUV that we are working on,” Goenka added.
M&M is targeting overseas sales of around 10% this year, a 3% increase from 2007, but expects to double that by 2010.
