Mahindra is developing a low-cost mini-SUV with recently acquired Ssangyong.
The new SUV would cost between INR 300,000 to INR 400,000 (US$ 6000-8000).
The mini-SUV is codenamed S101. The vehicle will be powered 1-1.2L petrol engines and a 1.5L diesel engine, according to sources.
The S101 is the first joint project between Mahindra and utility vehicle specialist Ssangyong.
The vehicle is expected to roll out of Mahindra’s plant in Chakan on the outskirts of Pune in 2-3 years’ time.
