Isuzu Motors plans to launch MU-7 Automatic in India in the near future.
The company plans to import the SUV via the CKD route and then assemble the model locally at Hindustan Motor Finance’s plant in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu.
The vehicle will be fitted with a 163PS/360Nm 3.0-litre four-cylinder intercooled engine, with power being sent to the rear wheels through an automatic transmission unit.
The SUV will feature 16-inches alloy wheels, ABS, keyless entry, dual front airbags, reverse camera and 2-DIN touch-screen audio system.
The MU-7 Automatic is expected to cost INR100,000 (US$1,572) more than the regular models and the company aims to sell 5,000 units of the model each year.
Meanwhile, Isuzu Motors plans to open 60 new dealerships in India by 2016-end. At present, the company has 23 dealerships across the country.
