The strike by some employees of Hyundai India ended late last week following reconciliation talks between employee representatives and management, according to Indian media reports.

The Hindu newspaper reported that the employees were returning to work, according to a press release from the Labour Commissioner. The release said that agreement was reached between managament and labour on wages and other issues.


Following talks workers were advised to resume work and the management was advised that the employees joining work should be allowed to do so without any conditions and no action should be taken against those employees who participated in the strike, the Labour Commissioner release reportedly said.


Hyundai on Friday threatened to move production of its new i20 hatchback to Europe from India due to labour trouble, which would hinder the country’s plan to become a global car export hub.
