Flush with the success of its recently launched entry-level Amaze sedan, Honda’s Indian unit has fast tracked plans to launch a seven-seater multi purpose vehicle (MPV) to compete with Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga.

The car, based on the same platform as the Amaze, was recently showcased in Indonesia, will be launched there in September, and will reach India early next year, the Hindustan Times reported, noting it would be Honda’s second diesel offering in India.

Honda’s MPV however is likely to be more expensive. The company has been on a high, ducking the industry trend ofslowdown with a 45% sales increase so far this year. The Amaze accounted for over 18,000 units of the 30,000 total sales.
