HMIL (Honda Motor India Limited) is the first global division of the Japanese OEM to announce the next generation of the City. This small sedan will be sold in 60 markets, Honda says.
The new model uses the same Global Compact Series architecture as the recently announced Fit/Jazz and Urban SUV models.

HMIL’s model goes on sale locally from early 2014. The car will be gradually rolled out from other global plants which build the outgoing model: the third generation City is manufactured in India, China, Thailand, Argentina and Brazil. The Guangqi Honda-built model is sold in the PRC as the Honda Fengfan, while Honda South Africa markets the car as the Ballade.
The main mechanical change for HMIL’s City is the addition of Honda’s locally-made 1.5-litre i-DTEC four-cylinder diesel engine. Petrol variants will have an improved version of the existing 1.5-litre four-cylinder SOHC i-VTEC engine.
According to Honda, the new City measures 4440mm in length (same as its predecessor), 1695mm in width (same as outgoing model), 1495mm in height (10mm more than the outgoing model) with a 2,600mm wheelbase (50mm longer).
