The report says that the company had earlier planned to launch an ‘indigenously-developed 200-cc bike’ in the first quarter of 2003. The report adds that the company is also believed to have put on hold its plans for setting up a third plant.

Currently, HHML has two plants, at Dharuhera and Gurgaon, both in Haryana, with a total capacity of 1.9 million. A third plant could  be located near one of the existing plants though it is not clear which one.

The Economic Times says that the 250-cc super sports bike is expected to showcase the technological capabilities of the company.

The paper adds that while HHML dominates the motorcycle segment, its market share has declined from 50% in the first quarter of the fiscal year to 43% in the third quarter.
